Individual Involvement - Volunteer - Men's MinistryWorking with many single moms in difficult situations, we have seen first hand the importance of doing our part in promoting marriage and encouraging men to embrace their God-given roles as protector and provider. This coupled with a study that showed the male partner's opinion as to whether to keep or abort the baby decided a woman's ultimate decision in 80% of the cases, convicted and inspired us to do a better job of reaching our male clients. We have done this in a number of ways. When a woman calls for an appointment, we encourage her to bring her partner with her. When both partners are able to come, we meet with them both to find out how best to help them. As a result, we have had the privilege of seeing men and women decide together to carry their baby to term. We have also had the privilege of sharing the gospel with both of them and seeing them both pray to ask Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. Because follow up is so important, our volunteer counselors tell our male clients about our male volunteers that would like to help them. Thanks to a handful of dedicated male volunteers we have an outreach to men by men out of both of our offices. These men help us with our computers, do handyman services, move things for the ministry and for our clients, as well as hold monthly Great Dad's workshops at the Alexandria center. We are looking for more men who would like to spend time with our male clients in different ways: Organize social events, encourage them to come to church, and help our male clients with things like resume writing, job searches, looking for better housing, and by giving them scriptural counsel on a variety of issues having to do with following Jesus Christ, marriage, and family.
