Letting go…

James Dobson from Focus on the family once say, “Trust involves letting go and knowing God will catch you.” How true this statement is for a life of faithful service and obedience.

I remember when I came to the Cross Road in my life. Trusting Jesus as my Savior felt as if I was stepping on to a cliff and being asked to jump off. I said to my friend been discipling me for months, “what if Jesus isn’t there to catch me?” He said, “Janet, that is called faith.” And so began my walk of faith with God.

What does it mean to let go and know that He will catch us? For us here, it means letting men and women walk out our clinic’s door still thinking abortion is their only option and trusting God will save them. It’s trusting that the words shared here will be infused by the Holy Spirit to bring men and women to repentance. “My Word will not return void” Isaiah 55:11.

For you, it may mean letting go of wayward children and knowing God has them. Or releasing prayers and trusting God will respond according to His good and perfect will. It is daily trusting God with health issues, finances, broken hearts and shattered relationships.

To pray and trust is the constant pattern of a believer’s life. I don’t know about you, but in 2024 I want to do more trusting and less controlling. More releasing and abiding! Less directing and self-will. More praying. More reading scripture. More mediating on God’s character and more face-to-face time with Jesus! “Not as I will, but as YOU will” Matthew 26:39
